Muslim Must-Know: The Creed Section

This section explains the core beliefs of Islam (ʿAqīdah). It begins with the three main questions of faith: Who is your Lord? What is your religion? Who is your prophet? The answers emphasize belief in Allah as the only Lord, Islam as the only true religion, and Muhammad ﷺ as the Messenger of Allah. Central themes include: Tawhīd (monotheism): Allah is the sole Creator, Sustainer, and the only One worthy of worship. Tawhīd has three types: Lordship, Worship, and Names & Attributes. Shirk (polytheism): The gravest sin, which invalidates worship, with both major and minor forms. Imān (faith): Consists of belief in Allah, angels, revealed books, messengers, the Last Day, and destiny. Faith includes words, deeds, and beliefs, and it increases with obedience and decreases with sin. Qur’an and Sunnah: The Qur’an is Allah’s uncreated Word, and the Sunnah is everything related to the Prophet ﷺ. Innovations in religion are rejected. Love and loyalty: Muslims must love the Prophet’s household, companions, scholars, and righteous believers, while dissociating from disbelief. End matters: Believers’ abode is Paradise, while disbelievers’ abode is Hell. Deeds are accepted only with sincerity to Allah and following the Sunnah. Ihsān (excellence): Worshipping Allah as if you see Him. Other principles: Reliance on Allah (tawakkul), enjoining good, forbidding evil, and following the path of Ahl-us-Sunnah wa al-Jamāʿah (the people who follow the Prophet ﷺ and his companions).
